Holo-magnetics are specialty pigments that degrade over time due to the solvents in nail polish base (not to be confused with regular holos). Because of this, I offer these partially mixed. The dry pigment should remain effective for 10+ years.
Dakini is a holo-magnetic made sheer so as to preserve the holoiest holo. It is inspired by the Tibetan and Vajrayana Buddhist interpretations of dakini, who are the ethereal, enigmatic female embodiments of enlightenment. The Tibetan word for dakini is khandro, which means sky-goer or space-dancer.

For the strongest holographic effect I suggest using the glass bead technique.
For partially mixed polishes:
I will provide the polish base, a small container of pigment, and a 10mg measuring spoon so that you can mix in a separate dish per manicure. If you don’t have a mixing dish already I will soon have some available under “Nail Care.”
For 2 generous coats on swatch wheel nails the ratios work out like this:
- 25 drops of polish, 1 spoon Dakini
- 25 drops of polish, 2 spoons Kuzuryū, Hōō, and Qilin
These pigments are so beautiful and are absolutely worth the couple extra steps in my opinion. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
The mix-as-you-go method is demonstrated in the first two videos, and the one for Qilin includes audio commentary and clean-up footage.

Mix-as-you-go Method:
These instructions are for one hand with short to medium length nails. For two hands or long nails, multiply everything by two or more as needed.
1. Gather your materials: you will need the polish base, dry pigment, tiny spoon, a dropper (optional), a mixing dish, and acetone and a paper towel for cleanup. Suitable materials for mixing dishes include glass, ceramic, stainless steel, and disposable cups.
2. Prep your nails as you normally would.
3. Apply base coat.
4. Using the nail polish brush or dropper, drop 25 medium-to-large drops of base into your dish, OR use the dropper to measure out a tiny bit over .5ml (the precise measurement is .6ml). Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be exact!
5. If using Dakini, take your tiny spoon, scoop up one spoon of holo, and add to the base. If using Kuzuryū, Hōō, or Qilin, scoop up two spoons of holo, and add to the base.
6. Mix it up using the nail polish brush, or if you desire, a separate brush or mixing tool.
7. Apply to nails and magnetize as desired, making sure to re-magnetize after top coat.
8. Pour a small amount of acetone into the dish.
9. Wipe the brush off with a tissue or paper towel and swish in acetone to remove polish residue, wipe again, and place back in the bottle. You can also use the acetone to rinse out the glass part of the dropper.
10. Wipe the dish to clean for later use. This step may have to wait until your nails are dry so as not to disturb your manicure, or you can use the cotton ball method as shown in the video for Qilin.
